Rab showed us some interesting videos. Those surely caught my attention at the begining.
Compared to those, my essay is poor. Is it successful to catch people's attention in introduction part? Maybe not...
I thought of some things after watching MEATLIX.
Rab often asks if Hemingway really liked nature though he hunted animals and do fishing.
I think he loved nature more than me.
Because I usually forget how the food we eat come to our table, and eat them without giving thanks.
On the other hand, Hemingway must have appreciated food he ate because he got them by himself.
In advanced countries, people try making food as much as possible to make profit, however, a great deal people in the world can't get enough food and starve to die. It is strange, isn't it?
I know some movies related to topic of today's videos.
"OUR DAILY BREAD"(いのちの食べ方) is about the reality of food we eat just like MEATLIX.

10/6 ARW
After solving PWT again and discussing the answers in class, we discuss The old man and the sea. In our group, we discussed why Hemingway's sons disliked him. It is because he divorced again and again? or because Hemingway was very famous and his sons felt pressure? There may be several reasons... Now that I know the background of him, it's getting a little interesting to read this novel.

1st June ARW
June has come!!
Today we learned fallacies for upcoming PWT on argumentation.
It is not interesting to memorize the name of each falaccies, however, learning and understanding each of them is very important for writing essay.
Then in a small group,we checked each thesis statements whether there were fallacies or not.
I think my thesis statement "Japanese prime minister should not worship at Yasukuni shrine in an official capacity because it is offensive to the war-damaged nations." is not logical...persuasive...
I may need to rethink of it.
By the way, I'm really interested in Mari's essay topic! I want to read her essay.

29/5 AWR
I haven't written my blog for a long time...
Today I learned that Google was very very useful tool. But it was a little confusing because I'm not good at computer. I have to practice and get used to using Google.

18/5 ARW
Today we practice PWT coming on this Friday. It was more difficult than I expected. I spent too much time for 1st paragraph, so I was not able to show my opinion clearly. I have to manage time. Writing outline before start writing essay may be helpful. Also, I couldn't structure the passage logically. I think I didn't use transitions correctly. I need to learn transitions before the test.

13/5 ARW
We finished Meiland. The main topic in discussion today was students' questions to teachers. I stil hesitate to ask questions in class, especially in a big class. It's partly because I don't want to interrupt teachers. However, after tha class, I thought about it again, and then I came to think that it may be because of my chalacter. Maybe I don't want to catch many students' attention...
But my asking question is surely good for other students, too. And I, as a student, have a right and duty to ask questions. I should be willing to ask.
On the other hand, I think asking question at once is sometimes not good. Thinking for myself is also important. In fact, when I have a question in class, I don't ask and think for myself at home, and if I can't find the answer, I ask the teacher. I like this way.

I really tried hard to finish Meiland reading in lunch time. However, we didn't read it in today's class. We learned some adjectives, and listed adjectives which represent my favorite color, animal, water, and feelings in white room. It never occured to me that it was psychological test!!(suriprising!!) Results were not so accurate for me and I don't really believe such a test, but it was really fun! I enjoyed it. Thanks Rab!

Today we exchange our essay and evaluate each other. I did that with Mari and Ayumi, which means we do that by three members, not two. Therefore we didn't have enough time. And it's a pity that only theree classmates read my essay. However, I got some advice from Mari, so I'll improve my essay on weekend. By the way, explaining what I thought and found after reading someon's essay is difficult. I cannnot correctly tell what I thought. So, I often explain again in Japanese after the class... Is it OK???

21/4 NP
What I was impressed the most is " critical thinking & people power can make difference". If everyone thinks critically and take acction, we might be able to make a good nation and the world. Even if we don't engage in a special job or don't have a special knowledge, there may be a way which we can change the world if we think critically in a daily life. I was shocked that the number of people in demonstration against war in Tokyo was much smaller than other big cities. Were a lot of people in Japan stand for war? Were people in Japan unwilling to demonstarate? Weren pepole in Japan not interested in war or not think anything?
I'm interested in IMF in today's lecture , so I'll check it for myself. Also if I can, I want to check the close relationship between the Nazis and US corporations.

20/4
Today we learned titles of essay. It was very interesting. There should be alliteration and humor in titles to catch readres attention. It seems difficult but I want to make a creative title. Without the good title, the essay cannot be perfect, I think. Then we moved to Meiland. When we did P&D in group, I wasn't able to say my opinion well. I realized how I had not been thinking while reading. Next time when I'll read, I intend to think more and more!! By the way, today's Rub's window cleaner made me laugh a lot!!^^ In college, just memorizing isn't enough. We have to think for my self and know the reasons.

The usefulness of IT (2)
IT is the effective tool which is necessary for university students today. First, they can get a lot of information from all over the world by using the Internet. It is useful when they write reports, essays, and the investigation of a book before they start reading it. Without the Internet, they just depended on the information around them. It does not fulfill students' demand. Second, IT gives students the opportunity to make a contribution to the class. If they write their opinion on the class on their blogs after every class or send it to their teachers, it helps the class become better. Teachers can improve the class next time by listening to students' voice. As a result, they do not be passive students, and they can play an important role in the class. Finally, IT is useful for communication among the class. Teachers can send assignment, the information on the class, and advice for students, and students can also ask teachers question even after class at home. Furthermore, students are able to have discussion online, and if everyone has their blogs, they can share their idea. Therefore, they are able to improve themselves each other. In conclusion, IT is essential tool for university students because it enables them to do a lot of things.
